For the Eccentric in you . . .

Traveling in a VW Camper van is a bit like being a snail - your home travels with you so you can get off the beaten track and pitch up in some weird and wonderful places that you just never knew existed.

If you aspire to having a 'barking mad' weekend getting to grips with eccentric British past times, unbelievable customs, daft and often risky sports and simply crazy rituals that occur each year, then this is the page for you!

We all have our little daily rituals and personal traits that make the world go around in harmony, some funny and some annoying to those around you. Eccentrics often do not think that they are. Some British customs are nonsensical to the outsider and sometimes to the insider too. Take the two minute silence on Remembrance Day - just prior to the 'eleventh hour on the eleventh day in the eleventh month' radio stations and broadcasters generate a lot of 'noise' just prior to the eleventh hour to remind us all to be quiet for two minutes at eleven O'clock.

We often hear of Cheese Rolling, Blazing Tar Barrels and the Lawn Mower Grand Prix but not so much about Swan Upping, Giant Yorkshire Pudding Race, Pooh Sticks World Championships or the Walrus Dip to name a few. Oh and there is Black Pudding Throwing too - how much fun does that sound?

At campinaVDub.co.uk we love the eccentric side of our green Isle and have provided below details of some of the crazy, irreligious, most dangerous and down right eccentric rituals that are lovingly replayed year after year.

View our links to some of the eccentric customs and rituals that you may want to make a detour to attend during your stay with us. Equally, if you know of a great eccentric event that is worth a mention, then please email us the details.
